What started as an accident during my senior year in high school as we happen do things a bit behind schedule turned into a sort of tradition throughout my years at MIT since finals ran so late into December and I loved being home for the picking of the tree. Even last year in my honor the family waited until Christmas Eve to buy the tree. Christmas Eve Christmas tree shopping can certainly be good fun as you drive from lot to lot, frantic to find someone desperate enough to still be trying to sell their trees on Christmas Eve, all the while hearing threats of an artificial Christmas tree from my dad, wondering if we will have to construct our own tree out of the leftover limbs and wreaths found in an empty lot. This year the hunt was fairly uneventful as our first stop still had some trees they were willing to sell (and for more than 50% off, at that!). It was relieving to find our tree, but the ease did make the victory a bit less sweet than in previous years.Our annual Christmas Eve tree shopping is a tradition always worth a good laugh, and one I'll be quite sad to see go next year at my sister's protest today that a tree should not be raised and decorated on the night of Santa's arrival.
