Esteban and I hit the road today headed south. We’re stopping by his place to drop off the camping gear before trekking across the country together, and we’ve decided to put the gear to good use once more at Sequoia National Park tonight. On the way down south, we passed a bunch of farms and lots of wide, open space through the Central Valley. We stopped to picnic on leftover Thai food at the San Luis Dam and Reservoir, where the colorati
on of the landscape was quite exotic. After killing some time in the exhibits around the dam, we loaded back in the car and continued our drive out. Though the air conditioning’s turned on high, the sun is remarkably strong and the temperature is hitting triple digits (Fahrenheit-- yes, I’ve returned to this scale). Regardless, the California landscape never ceases to impress.
